The eight bedroom accommodation is spread over three floors with a wheelchair accessible lift to both upper floors. The wood panelled entrance hall with an ornate stained glass window leads into a spacious lounge/dining area which residents, visitors and staff use regularly for meals and social occasions
Millfield, with its shared lounge/dining area has always offered an exceptionally warm and friendly environment. There is a happy mix of male and female residents. Millfields prime location offers residents easy access to the town and they can be supported to access areas further afield.
As with all our Homes, our rooms are single occupancy rooms and decorated to a high standard. We encourage residents to bring personal items from home to create their own individual private space. All bedrooms have TV points and residents can arrange their own private Telephone/Broadband/Satellite connections at the discretion of the Home Manager/Partners.
We have a very spacious lounge, our bathrooms are large and offer a choice of side opening bath, or shower which is accessible via shower/chair. This enables us to provide a very standard of personal hygiene.
Millfield House’s front garden was specifically designed with the wheelchair user in mind. It has raised flower beds lining the gentle slope down to street level. This layout is particularly helpful for any keen horticulturalist.
At the back of the property there is a pretty courtyard garden with a well-attended birdbath. The barbecue is well used during the summer months. The residents at Millfield House have always contributed to organising and planting both these front and back outside areas.
Our high staffing ratios enable us to respond to all our residents needs 24 hours a day.
Our own maintenance team is on hand to avoid any major emergency or breakdown inconveniences at Millfield House. We undergo regular checks and carry out routine maintenance to all equipment and materials in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive.
Millfield House is within 3 minutes safe walk of the town, with a range of shops and cafes. Radnor Park is nearby, well-known locally for its regular entertainment of boot-fairs, donkey derby, circus and funfair. Millfield House residents are able to access this large recreational space easily by wheelchair. The footpaths lead to pleasant sitting areas, duck ponds, and a freshwater fishing lake. Folkestone’s Sports Centre, with swimming pool, gym, ski slope and cafeteria, is also close by.
The staff at Millfield House regularly arrange in-house entertainment to celebrate birthdays and other special events.
