Our state-of-the-art cedar lodges were planned and developed for disabled adults ready to experience independent living. Our lodges offer vulnerable adults the encouragement and self-confidence to develop independent living skills. The resident receives personal 1 to 1 care hours and the relatives are reassured knowing there is a 24 hour support
Each lodge is designed on one level with a large sitting room, fitted kitchen and modern diner, a spacious bedroom with overhead hoist and en-suite wet room, W.C. and integrated cupboard. The lodge has plenty of room for a couple or a single person.
An emergency 24 hour call system is fitted. Residents can supply their own furniture, soft furnishings and equipment as we consider this part of the preparation towards independent living. Each lodge has two external doors – one from the lounge, and the other from the bedroom both opening out onto a patio area where the garden and wildlife can be enjoyed. Access is available to all of the Sandgate Manor Gardens via a woodland ramp and pathway.
The lodge offers an independent lifestyle choice. Residents are encouraged to manage their own day to day schedule of Care, medication, appointments and activities with our support, they can also join in activities in the main House.
Budgeting and money handling is an important part of independent living. We offer assistance in opening a bank account, agreeing the best method of withdrawing cash, and storing it safely. Residents gain a real sense of achievement when they become competent in directing staff and organising their own complete care needs this is rewarding for all concerned.
Whilst we offer these lodges as a stepping-stone towards independence, one of our residents has been so happy living in one for the last six years that he has no plans to move on.
MNP provides a high level of care staff who work in accordance with a 24 hour rota system. The teams work throughout the home and may be called at anytime to attend an individual room as requested by the resident. This call can be made using one of a variety of personal and room call systems. This enables the Woodland Lodges residents to have the ability to call for assistance at any time of the day or night.
Our own maintenance team is on hand to avoid any major emergency or breakdown inconveniences at the Woodland Lodges. We undergo regular checks and carry out routine maintenance to all equipment and materials in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive.
The Woodland Lodges in the grounds of Sandgate Manor are situated approximately one mile from junction 12 off the M20 motorway within the seaside village of Sandgate. Local and national bus services are available from the nearby A259 Coastal Road with the mainline railway station of Folkestone West about five minutes drive away. The nearest beach is within easy distance by foot or by car.
